The Show Must Go On…..

That is what we preach whenever a crisis strikes a person. Such words of philosophy seldom put a balmy touch on a devastated and depressed soul. But then construction takes shape from the ashes of destruction. Hope remains alive amidst despair and depression. Look at the Mousumi Island and you will feel surprised to know how it has rebuilt itself from the ruins and ravages all around.

Nestled in the famous Sunderban Mangrove Area, the island has emerged as one of the latest and loveliest hotspots on the updated map of West Bengal Travel and Tourism. Sea is calm and cool here. The vast land with mangrove trees comes alive with daily fishing activities. A large number of boats can be easily spotted here and there. Tucked into a remote region, the place feels divine and serene enough to spend your weekend with family and friends.

The daily humdrum of hustles and bustles came to a standstill and everything fell silent when the three surprising monstrous visitors came to the island in different years – Ayla, Bulbul Umphan and Yaas.  Everything was gone. Heavy casualties left the island dumb and deaf. With lives lost, property damaged, the deadpan look on every face melts the heart of even the most rough and rogue person. But people on the island have rekindled their hope, summoned their strength and driven their life to normal rhythm times and again.

Ernest Hemingway was right: “A man can be destroyed but not defeated”. They again rose from the ashes like a phoenix and started the daily chores. Mousuni Island is back to its life again.
